Managing several Microsoft accounts
If you have several Microsoft accounts you can face some issues while working with the workbook picker.
Microsoft opens a list of files for your current active account that you are logged in to microsoft.com.
In case you need to switch account, click the corresponding button on the file picker page:
In most complicated cases you may need to follow this instruction:
1. Close the file picker window.
2. Go to https://www.microsoft.com/
3. Click the Profile button and sign out from your current account:
4. Sign in to the desired account.
5. Go back to Coupler.io and click the workbook picker again.
If your OneDrive displays the 103 error message as on the screen below, close the file picker and open it again:
Workbook picker is not opened
If the OneDrive window doesn’t open when you click the workbook picker, make sure it was not minimized by clicking outside the window - click your browser icon on the Taskbar and select OneDrive window:
This workbook is not accessible through Microsoft Excel API
During MS Excel destination setup in Coupler.io, selecting a destination file is not possible due to this error:
This workbook is not accessible through Microsoft Excel API. Please contact our support team for assistance.
Unfortunately, this is a known issue with Microsoft Excel API. To confirm you are affected by the known issue, please:
1. Try the following troubleshooting steps first:
1. Make sure the file you selected is stored on the same OneDrive account that you have specified as your destination account in Coupler.io. If yes >>
open your destination connections page
- click "disconnect" near your Microsoft Excel connection
- set up a fresh importer with Microsoft Excel destination and add your connection again
- try picking a file again
- if no luck >>
5. If no luck after trying all the steps above - unfortunately, you are affected by the known issue with Microsoft Excel API.
2. Known issue
Excel API does not allow Coupler.io to access to your Excel file. More precisely: Coupler.io can select the file in File picker, but cannot operate with it after this - cannot get a list of sheets, read data, or write data to your file.
The Coupler.io Team has performed a thorough investigation of this issue and came with the following results:
- The technical reason for
personal
drive type is- when Excel API returns a file link started with
1drv.ms
- this file works fine and can be used in Coupler.io - when Excel API returns a file link started with
onedrive.live.com
- this file does not work and returns the error
- when Excel API returns a file link started with
- The issue may be related to the Excel API limitation described in their official documentation here
- The issue happens randomly for different customers and has no definitive pattern
- The issue cause is not on Coupler.io's side. The MS Excel destination works for most of our customers who can select the file with no issue
We have contacted Microsoft support so they could explain this issue /suggest a fix. As soon as our team receives any information from Microsoft, we will be informing our customers affected by the issue accordingly.
Until then, there is no resolution to this issue at the moment, unfortunately.
Until the solution is found, our best suggestion is to:
- Contact Microsoft Support - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/. We did this from our side as well, but it may help speed up the process;
- Opt in for a different supported destination (e.g. Google Sheets).
BrowserAuthError: popup_window_error: Error opening popup window
When setting up your Microsoft Excel destination workbook, you may encounter an error stating:
BrowserAuthError: popup_window_error: Error opening popup window.
This can happen if you're using Internet Explorer or if popups are blocked in your browser among a few other reasons. See below how to address them.
- Browser Compatibility: So ensuring that you are using a modern and supported browser. Some older browsers, such as Internet Explorer (IE), may have limitations or issues with popup windows. Try using a different browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Popup Blocker: Check if your browser has a popup blocker enabled. If so, you may need to allow popups for the specific website or temporarily disable the popup blocker to see if it resolves the issue.
- Internal Browser Settings: In rare cases, internal browser settings or configurations specific to your computer's environment (such as firewall settings) may be blocking popups. Review these settings or consult with your IT department if necessary.
- Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Clearing your browser's cache and cookies can also help resolve unexpected issues with web applications.
