Troubleshooting: Salesforce connection

In this article, we collected known issues which could lead to a failing connection with your Salesforce instance.

Trying to connect a Salesforce sandbox instance

Coupler.io does not support connecting to a Salesforce sandbox instance. Please make sure that you are trying connect to a production environment.

You can easily tell which type of environment you want to connect to Coupler.io.

  • Salesforce sandbox’s URL starts with https://test.salesforce.com
  • Salesforce production’s URL starts with https://login.salesforce.com
  • If your Salesforce login is different from these, then your organization is using a custom domain. Custom domains could point to either a production or a sandbox environment. Please make sure you are using the production login URL.

Having strict OAuth policies

If users cannot self authorize or the IP restrictions are enforced, then Coupler.io will either fail to  connect to your Salesforce instance or you will need to reconnect frequently.

To address this, please visit Setup / App / Connected Apps / Manage Connected Apps in Salesforce. Here, select Coupler.io and click on Edit Policies.

In the OAuth Policies section choose the following settings:

  • Permitted Users: All users may self-authorize
  • IP Relaxation: Relax IP restrictions
  • Refresh Token Policy: Refresh token is valid until revoked

These settings will ensure a smooth connection between Salesforce and Coupler.io.

Having too many Salesforce connections

Salesforce allows 5 connections per application. When the 6th connection is created, Salesforce automatically revokes the oldest connection. To ensure the smooth operation of all Salesforce importers, we suggest the use of shared connections.
