Troubleshooting: YouTube channel is missed in list of options during importer set up
It can be that you do not see needed channel when you connect your YouTube account to Coupler.io.
There are 2 places where you may see that channel is missed:
- During account connection step
- In importer settings once you connected your YouTube account:
Possible reasons and ways how to resolve:
Channel is completely missing
Personal channel case
- If the channel you need is a personal one and you are not the owner, you may not be able to access it via the API. YouTube allows management of personal channels through channel permissions:
Unfortunately, channel permissions do not grant API access (source):
Solutions
If you need to fetch data from personal channel and you are not an owner of this channel - there are 2 options:
- The channel owner can create a connection with Coupler.io and share it with you.
- The channel owner can сreate brand account and migrate personal one to the Brand account to allow API access to channel for other users. There is a data loss during migration:
💥 Content that’s lost during transfer: Watch & search history, Creator Demographic information provided by the channel owner, Gift settings.
Brand Account channel case
- If you are certain the channel is linked to a Brand Account (here’s how to check), but you do not see it during connection, verify your role for the Brand Account. You should have at least the "Manager" role.
Channel is available during account connection, but missed in importer settings
- If you selected a personal account (your email option) during the connection setup, you will only see your personal channel in the settings options.
Solution
To have the Brand Account channel available in importer settings, you need to select Brand Account during connection creation. This will ensure the Brand Account channel appears as a selectable option:
Single channel available for selection in importer settings, but I have access to multiple
- You may notice that after connecting your YouTube account, you do not see all your channels in the importer settings. This is because YouTube does not allow access to multiple channels simultaneously.
Solution
- Create separate connections for each channel you need to fetch data from.
