Audience | Subscription status | This dimension indicates whether the user activity metrics in the data row are associated with viewers who were subscribed to the video's or playlist's channel. Possible values are SUBSCRIBED and UNSUBSCRIBED. Note that the dimension value is accurate as of the time that the user activity occurs. For example, suppose a user has not subscribed to a channel and watches one of that channel's videos, then subscribes to the channel and watches another video, all on the same day. The channel's report indicates that one view has a subscribedStatus value of SUBSCRIBED, and one view has a subscribedStatus value of UNSUBSCRIBED. |

Interactions | Subscribers gained | The number of times that users subscribed to a channel. Channels can gain or lose subscribers in several places, including the video watch page, the channel page, and the guide that appears on the YouTube home page. In channel reports, this metric includes subscribers gained from any of these places. However, in reports that use either the video dimension or the filter parameter to restrict the response to only include data for a particular video, the subscribersGained metric will only include statistics from the specified video's watch page. |
Interactions | Subscribers lost | The number of times that users unsubscribed from a channel. Data for this metric is reported similarly to the subscribersGained metric. In channel reports, this metric includes subscribers lost through any mechanism through which users can unsubscribe from a channel. However, in reports that use either the video dimension or the filter parameter to restrict the response to only include data for a particular video, this metric only includes users who unsubscribed from the specified video's watch page. |

Audience | Age | This dimension identifies the age group of the logged-in users associated with the report data. The API uses the following age groups: age13-17 age18-24 age25-34 age35-44 age45-54 age55-64 age65- |
Audience | Gender | This dimension identifies the gender of the logged-in users associated with the report data. Valid values are female, male, and user_specified. |
Audience | City | The estimated city associated with the metrics in the report row. Data for this dimension is available for dates beginning January 1, 2022. |
Audience | Country | The country associated with the metrics in the report row. The dimension value is a two-letter ISO-3166-1 country code, such as US, CN (China), or FR (France). The country code ZZ is used to report metrics for which YouTube could not identify the associated country. |
Audience | Province (available for US country only) | The U.S. state or territory associated with the metrics in the report row. The dimension value is an ISO 3166-2 code that identifies a U.S. state or the District of Columbia, such as US-MI (Michigan) or US-TX (Texas). The province code US-ZZ is used to report metrics for which YouTube could not identify the associated U.S. state. Note: This dimension does not support ISO 3166-2 values that identify U.S. outlying areas since those territories also have their own ISO 3166-1 country codes. It also does not support subdivisions of countries other than the United States. |
Audience | Device type | This dimension identifies the physical form factor of the device on which the view occurred. The following list identifies the device types for which the API returns data. You can also use the deviceType dimension as a filter to restrict an operating system report to only contain data for a specific type of device. DESKTOP GAME_CONSOLE MOBILE TABLET TV UNKNOWN_PLATFORM |
Audience | Operating system | This dimension identifies the software system of the device on which the view occurred. The following list identifies the operating systems for which the API returns data. You can also use the operatingSystem as a filter to restrict a device type report to only contain data for a specific operating system. ANDROID BADA BLACKBERRY CHROMECAST DOCOMO FIREFOX HIPTOP IOS KAIOS LINUX MACINTOSH MEEGO NINTENDO_3DS OTHER PLAYSTATION PLAYSTATION_VITA REALMEDIA SMART_TV SYMBIAN TIZEN VIDAA WEBOS WII WINDOWS WINDOWS_MOBILE XBOX |
Audience retention | Elapsed video time ratio | This dimension specifies the ratio of the elapsed portion of the video to the video's length. Retention dimensions and metrics are used to measure audience retention over time, and the elapsedVideoTimeRatio dimension is the time measurement. For example, a value of 0.4 indicates that the corresponding report data shows retention data after 40 percent of the video has elapsed. The API returns 100 data points for each video with ratio values ranging from 0.01 to 1.0. The times at which data is measured during video playbacks are equally spaced for each video. This means that for a two-minute video, the interval between data points is 1.2 seconds. However, for a two-hour video, the interval between data points is 72 seconds. The dimension's value denotes the exclusive end of the interval. |
Engagement | Sharing service | This dimension identifies the service that was used to share videos. Videos can be shared on YouTube (or via the YouTube player) using the "Share" button. Learn more |

Annotations | Annotation closes | The number of closed annotations. |
Annotations | Annotation impressions | The total number of annotation impressions. |
Audience retention | Audience watch ratio | The absolute ratio of viewers watching the video at a given point. It is calculated by comparing the number of times a portion of a video has been watched to the total number of views of the video. The ratio can be greater than 1 if viewers watch the same portion more than once. |
Audience retention | Relative retention performance | A measurement of how well a video retains viewers during playbacks compared to all YouTube videos of similar length. The value ranges from 0 to 1, with 0 indicating worse retention than other videos and 1 indicating better retention. A median value of 0.5 indicates average performance. |
Audience retention | Started watching | The number of times a particular segment of the video was the first segment seen during a video playback. |
Audience retention | Stopped watching | The number of times a particular segment of the video was the last segment seen during a video playback. |
Audience retention | Total segment impressions | The number of times a particular segment of a video was viewed. A viewer can watch the same segment multiple times in the same playback. |
Cards | Card click rate | The click-through rate for cards, which is calculated as the ratio of card clicks to card impressions. |
Cards | Card clicks | The number of times that cards were clicked. |
Cards | Card impressions | The number of times cards were displayed. When the card panel is opened, a card impression is logged for each of the video's cards. |
Cards | Card teaser click rate | The click-through rate for card teasers, which is calculated as the ratio of clicks on card teasers to the total number of card teaser impressions. |
Cards | Card teaser clicks | The number of clicks on card teasers. Card icon clicks are attributed to the last teaser displayed to the user. |

Interactions | Likes | The number of times that users indicated that they liked a video by giving it a positive rating. |
Interactions | Shares | The number of times that users shared a video through the Share button. |
Performance | Average view duration | The average length, in seconds, of video playbacks. As of December 13, 2021, this metric excludes looping clips traffic. In a playlist report, the metric indicates the average length, in seconds, of video playbacks that occurred in the context of a playlist. |
Performance | Average view percentage | The average percentage of a video watched during a video playback. |
Performance | Watch time (minutes) | The number of minutes that users watched videos for the specified channel, content owner, video, or playlist. |
Performance | Viewer percentage | The percentage of viewers who were logged in when watching the video or playlist. |
Performance | Views | This metric represents different numbers in different types of reports:
|
Playlist | Average time in playlist | The estimated average amount of time, in minutes, that a viewer viewed videos in a playlist after the playlist was initiated. Note that this metric includes only playlist views that occurred on the web. |
Playlist | Playlist starts | The number of times that viewers initiated playback of a playlist. Note that this metric includes only playlist views that occurred on the web. |
Playlist | Videos added to playlists | The number of times that videos were added to any YouTube playlists. The videos could have been added to the video owner's playlist or to other channels' playlists. The metric value does include the number of times that videos were added to default playlists like the "Watch Later" playlist. However, it does not count playlists that a video is automatically added to, such as a channel's uploads playlist or a user's watch history. This metric returns an absolute number, meaning that if a user adds a video to a playlist, removes it, and then adds it again, the metric value reflects the video being added to a playlist twice. Data for this metric is not available for dates before October 1, 2014. |
Playlist | Videos removed from playlists | The number of times that videos were removed from any YouTube playlists. The videos could have been removed from the video owner's playlist or from other channels' playlists. The metric value includes the number of times that videos were removed from default playlists like the "Watch Later" playlist. This metric returns an absolute number, meaning that if a user adds a video to a playlist, removes it, adds it again, and then removes it again, the metric value reflects the video being removed from a playlist twice. Data for this metric is not available for dates before October 1, 2014. |
Playlist | Views per playlist start | The average number of video views that occurred each time a playlist was initiated. Note that this metric includes only playlist views that occurred on the web. |
Playlist | Playlist average view duration | The estimated average length, in seconds, watched per playlist view. Note that this metric represents the average length of views of individual videos within a playlist; the averageTimeInPlaylist metric, by contrast, represents the average time each viewer spends watching the playlist as a whole. This metric includes data for playlist videos that are owned by other channels. |
Playlist | Playlist watch time (minutes) | The number of minutes that users watched the playlist content as a part of the playlist. Watch time that occurred in other contexts—for example, watch time from views that occurred when viewers were watching the same video as part of other playlists—is not counted. This metric includes data for playlist videos that are owned by other channels. |
Playlist | Playlist views | The number of times that videos in the playlist were viewed in the context of that playlist. This metric includes data for playlist videos that are owned by other channels. |
Playlist | Playlist saves | The net number of times that users saved a playlist. This metric returns a net change number, meaning that if a user saves a playlist, removes it from the list of saved playlists, and saves it again, the metric value reflects one playlist save being added. |
Premium | YouTube Premium watch time (minutes) | The number of minutes that YouTube Premium (previously known as YouTube Red) members watched a video. |
Premium | YouTube Premium views | The number of times that a video was viewed by YouTube Premium (previously known as YouTube Red) members. |
