17-06-24 Wizard design updates and transformation improvements

Coupler.io is thrilled to announce a series of updates and new features rolled out in June, enhancing the platform's functionality and user experience. These updates focus on transformations, data management, sources, and integrations, reflecting our commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

New Data Transformation Wizard Design

Welcome the brand new design of the Transformation step. Tabs have been replaced with views in the sidebar, making it easier to work with multiple data entities from various sources and see all appends and joins performed. Now, orchestrate your data seamlessly without leaving Coupler.io!

Wizard Design Improvements

Coupler.io has received several key updates: a collapsible wizard sidebar, updated designs for tooltips, preview styles, and typography. Icons have been added to columns based on data type, and handling of long importer names and non-Chrome browsers has been optimized. The wizard flow has been streamlined, with success screens added for source and destination steps.

New Updates for Data Transformations

Join by Multiple Fields

The web app has been upgraded to support multiple joins, allowing users to preview results of a join by multiple fields, enhancing data integration and analysis capabilities.

Data Blending

Join and Append features are now available in all plans. The interface now highlights columns of joined sources and shows only available sources for joins. Users can join data directly in the transformation step, recompute workflow configurations based on join type, and handle joins on hidden columns.

Data Sorting

Coupler.io has enhanced the user experience by enabling a robust sorting feature. This includes sorting from column menus, applying sorts to source result sets, and reordering sort rules via a dedicated Sort Widget. Additionally, the data flow has been streamlined using managed column properties, and an implementation plan has been prepared for introducing workflow configuration based on this new sorting functionality.

String Formulas

New formula capabilities have been released, including left and right formulas and support for regex formulas for text. Additionally, a formula to ExtractObject for JSON serialization has been added, further expanding data processing functionalities.

Number Formats

The Looker Studio connector now supports precision, percentage, and currency formats. Format configurations for formulas that return numbers have been introduced, including specific formats for currency, percentage, and precision in decimal formats. Support for more DateTime formats has also been added.

Data Filtration

Enhancements include better filtering queries involving the LIKE operator and ensuring deterministic schema detection. Typecasting for boolean values, strings, dates, and numbers has been introduced, and detection and merging of data types have been improved. The system now handles filtrations for various data types, allows manual selection of Boolean, Date, and DateTime types, and supports timezone conversion for these fields.

Calculable Columns

Several enhancements have been made to improve the functionality and user experience of calculable columns. This includes extracting formula type options to a separate component, and replacing "" with {} for column variables and references. An implementation for calculable columns has been introduced, and styles for modals and tooltips in the preview have been unified. The code editor for calculable columns now supports keys with special symbols, logical functions, date and time formulas, and autocompletion for column names. The final design for calculable columns has been applied, with added abilities to return, edit, and delete data types for these columns.

Other Transformation Improvements

Column stitching based on names is now clearly showcased, and columns that were unnamed in the source are highlighted as "Untitled N" in the transform step. The transform features have been publicly released with column management and stitch preview. Users can delete all transformations and rename sources, which are stored as job names. Additionally, empty columns in the preview are highlighted and turn grey on hover for better visibility.

Sources and Destinations Improvements

Shopify

Total discounts per line item are now included in the "Orders with line items" importer. Shopify has been updated to version 2024-01, and refunded items are displayed as separate rows.

Google Drive

The issue preventing the import of 100MB CSV files, which previously resulted in a "no access to file" error, has been resolved.

Xero

The ability to select a tenant has been added, enhancing integration and data management capabilities.

Harvest

A Harvest importer with OAuth 2.0 support has been introduced, along with reports for Project Budget, Time, Uninvoiced, and Expenses. An "updated_since" filter for data entities has been included. Users can now select Harvest accounts and see human-readable error messages with actions for 403 errors.

HubSpot

Several updates have been released, including a Marketing Performance report, renaming old data entities, removing logic that filters out empty association columns, and revamping the columns picker. Steps in the HubSpot wizard have been reordered, and a new field picker replaces the columns string field. Support has been expanded to fetch all fields without limitations, fetch more CRM objects and associations for data entities, and implement fetching of Custom Objects via the new API CRM v3.

Google Connections Validations

Enhancements include Google Sheets connection validation, adding a "Reconnect" button for execution errors due to insufficient permissions, and changing the logic for detecting file access issues.

We hope these updates enhance your experience with Coupler.io and help you achieve even greater efficiency and accuracy in your data workflows. Stay tuned for more exciting features and improvements in the coming months.
